Day 1 - IM 2009 Trip

An early morning adventure, actually it was only 9 a.m. so not too early, started with Starbucks and a trek from the Fox Cities to Madison.

IM 2009 kicked off at 7 a.m. Kelly and I had our day planned and reworked it on the way south. We discovered our own directions and decided upon taking the bug right too Verona instead of taking the dreaded bus.

Before we got anywhere close to Madison, the lovely folks of Rosendale had a little something planned for us. A LARGE event with 3 RV's and a fire was taking place and apparently it was inappropriate to be driving 71 in a 55 MPH zone...I got pulled over. The sheriff wanted NOTHING to do with our jokes or humor. Thank god he saved me $15 on the speeding ticket. Expense #1 - $175

The day progressed as planned and included a lifesaving experience by Kelly and Dr. Al - you don't always get the opportunity to shove ice down a man's spandex. Shopping and lunch on State St. with plenty of cheering. Starbucks at 5 p.m. Volunteering at 6 p.m.

"Catching" at the finishline was an experience and enjoyable - congratulating Ironmen and meeting new friends.

Finally, night came and we were ready for bed. I was limping because I had a broken foot :-) Ouch! We found and arrived at the Ho Jo for a WELL-NEEDED shower and 5 whole hours of sleep.
Expense #2 - $100 hotel room

Goodnight.
