Who is responsible for the upkeep of this BLOG!!! hahaha!
Since our last post, what has taken place (besides the sheer excitement we exude each day knowing what is looming ahead of us??) Let's see, to celebrate turkey and exercise, Kelly and I RACED the Noodleini 15K on November 29th. We really laced up our shoes and went out for a 9.3 mile trot, plus another 12 minutes, which in our world., is basically 12 miles. Work with us on that one. FYI - Kelly beat me in the Noodleini by a MILI-SECOND. She is always trying to win - so competitive. But our finishline photo was featured on the Midwest Sports Events homepage. We looked fabulous - barf.
A necessity of IM training is a Las Vegas adventure (I was just there in spirit). However, it wasn't the actual Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon that kicked training into high gear, it was the Cher concert that was attended (complete with Cher mints - hopefully those are everlasting - like the Gobstopper.) Congrats Kelly and Sean on the race!
Random indoor exercising has continued but the real celebration comes in the form of Mexican cuisine - most importantly the margaritas, guacamole, christmas presents (that Kelly made me give back to her), after dinner nutty crunchy shot and shots of tequila to make us more sexy and beautiful than we are now. Suckers.
Although, in our true form, we didn't take a picture of the commemorative calendars we have (Robert Pattinson & Audrey Hepburn) to keep track of our IM Training, we did get some activities PENCILED in. Our training is completely flexible - as are we.
We cruised past January, February and March and got into the meat of the training to include a couple 5K's, a sprint triathlon and a handful of Madison course rides. Training complete - bring on the beast.
But, Kelly really took hold of her responsibilities and got a 2 hour spin class scheduled with our spin-master, Don, for January 15th.
Maybe after that date we'll plan some more adventures. Maybe not. We are elite athletes and don't require too much training.
With that, my friends, all I have to say is "Swim Bike Run."
Two years ago, Kelly and I teamed up and decided to do Ironman Wisconsin 2009. And, instead of 2009, we opted for 2010. There was no backing out. We volunteered. We waited in line. We signed up. There is no rhyme or reason to the timing or subject matter in our postings. But we can guarantee it will be entertaining. Follow our journey and our destination. IM 2010.

As Dawn recovers from her successful full marathon, we are making plans for the future. TEAMDAWNKELLY followers....we would like to gather at least 112 of you so we can station you at EACH and EVERY mile of the bike course. You will need to provide us with SNACKS , inspiration and defribilators to be used as needed.
It is almost January and the beginning of .....you guessed it....our first massage!

Day 11 - IM WI 2010 - GREAT IDEAS!
Kelly never ceases to amaze me.
A couple great ideas...
1) Make fun IM boxes (complete with stickers, craft night, margaritas and guac) to put in $1 for every training mile. After IM is over, we go shopping in CHICAGO! Wonderful. Looking forward to putting $1's in the IM box.
2) 1 massage a month to reward ourselves of our workout efforts.
When will it be January? So thrilled for these ideas...Keep 'em rollin!
Happy training.

Day 10 - IM WI 2010 - Official Sign Up
Yowsa - it is official - the final step of the "Ironman Sign Up Process" is complete.
Kelly, did you do it as well?
Butterflies and deep breaths.

Day 7 - IM WI 2010 - Bike Ride
We opted out of our 130 mile bike ride on a beautiful Saturday morning to throw down a quick 22 (aka the high cliff sprint course).
The hill is no longer a task for us - we are Ironman - we don't even breath heavy anymore, ha.
Actually, this Saturday morning bike ride was the result of a left behind sweet scarf and hat from the Ironman adventure - Kelly, I know your items are sooo happy to be home.
Until the next adventure...

Day 5 - IM WI 2010

Kelly and I have accomplished so much in our world of training. Actually, we've planned a bike ride for Saturday - throw down a quick 40 and call it a day. This is what we do. Swim. Bike. Run.
We are giving ourselves a couple months to plan and regroup and then the real training begins - until then, just regular stuff.
Let's post some pics.

Day 2 - IM 2010 Sign-Up
Kelly doesn't hesitate at the sound of the alarm. 5:15 a.m. - GET YOUR *SS UP - Let's go sign up for Ironman.
Taking our usual parking spot at Machinery Row bike shop, we entered the line of roughly 75 volunteers waiting to spend some serious cash.
2 people in front of us appeared our new friend John - Mr. "I'm not getting there until 8 a.m.". It was 6 a.m. and we only waited for 1 hour.
The sign up lined progressed. We showed our credentials (ID's), paid our ridiculous amount of money, booked a hotel. Bam - here we come IM 2010.
John, our new friend, bought us coffee for insisting he arrive early to sign up - we were done with the entire process at 8:30 a.m.
Kelly and I will approach this slow and steady - training will not begin until January 1, 2010. Until then we will eat cookies, drink latte's and rest on the couch. Not entirely, but why rush into it?

Day 1 - IM 2009 Trip

An early morning adventure, actually it was only 9 a.m. so not too early, started with Starbucks and a trek from the Fox Cities to Madison.
IM 2009 kicked off at 7 a.m. Kelly and I had our day planned and reworked it on the way south. We discovered our own directions and decided upon taking the bug right too Verona instead of taking the dreaded bus.
Before we got anywhere close to Madison, the lovely folks of Rosendale had a little something planned for us. A LARGE event with 3 RV's and a fire was taking place and apparently it was inappropriate to be driving 71 in a 55 MPH zone...I got pulled over. The sheriff wanted NOTHING to do with our jokes or humor. Thank god he saved me $15 on the speeding ticket. Expense #1 - $175
The day progressed as planned and included a lifesaving experience by Kelly and Dr. Al - you don't always get the opportunity to shove ice down a man's spandex. Shopping and lunch on State St. with plenty of cheering. Starbucks at 5 p.m. Volunteering at 6 p.m.
"Catching" at the finishline was an experience and enjoyable - congratulating Ironmen and meeting new friends.
Finally, night came and we were ready for bed. I was limping because I had a broken foot :-) Ouch! We found and arrived at the Ho Jo for a WELL-NEEDED shower and 5 whole hours of sleep.
Expense #2 - $100 hotel room
Goodnight.
