Wait until we get over the HUMP...

There isn't actually a hump. We swim and swim and swim; crashing into waves along the way, sucking up water through our mouths and noses, getting punched in the face by white caps and we wait in anticipation for the point at which the waves cease - what we refer to as "the hump."

"It will get better once we get over the hump." - Dawn
"There isn't actually a hump. We are in a damn lake!" - Kelly

Today was bittersweet. In the heart of the spring season we began our serious adventure into the Ironman life and over time, our training entailed many, many trips to Elkhart Lake. Through the spring and summer we swam, had coffee and drove home. As the summer has come to an end, September 1st came storming into our lives taking away our time and our warm and humid weather. Today instead of exiting the lake with the sun beating down, we ran out in search of our yellow Tri Fox towels that soaked up the water drips on our bodies.

With the very chilly air temps, teamdawnkelly suited up for our final Elkhart Lake swim before Ironman 2010. At our halfway point, we stopped to stick our feet out of the water and to take it all in. Just 25 more minutes and we would say goodbye to the lake for the season or indefinitely.

But we did get to say hello to Thyme Savours and enjoy, yet another, Almond Joy Latte and in the spirit of celebration, raspberry and blueberry scones.

With just 8 days to go, teamdawnkelly continues to celebrate taper week. We love taper weeks and kick ass on "off days." Separately, teamdawnkelly will swim, bike and run into the upcoming weekend, with just one final gathering before we head south to Madison. And in true teamdawnkelly fashion, we will meet on Thursday to talk Ironman over a frosty Margarita.

IM Cash Box Update: $220 (this is our last! so i rounded up the additional 75 cents)
